Autumn is creeping in, the cooler weather has graced us with it’s presence. That means that many plants are now putting out seeds that are ready for collecting! Collecting seeds in your yard or any place where you can get permission is a great way to get many native plants for low financial cost. In the month of September, be on the lookout for the following species:

- Allium cernuum – Nodding Wild Onion
- Asclipias spp. – All Milkweed Species
- Bouteloua curtipendula – Sideoats Grama
- Coreopsis lanceolata – Lance-Leaved Coreopsis
- Echinacea spp. – Purple Coneflower, Pale Purple Coneflower
- Eutrochium spp. – Joe Pye Weed Species
- Helenium autumnale – Sneezeweed
- Lamiaceae – Monarda, Pycnanthemum, Blephilia, Scutellaria, etc. – Mint Family including Bee Balms, Mountain Mints, Wood Mints and Skullcaps
- Liatris spp. – Blazing Star Species
- Lobelia spp. – Great Blue Lobelia, Cardinal Flower
- Physostegia virginiana – Obedient Plant
- Schizachyrium scoparium – Little Bluestem
