City Nature Challenge Results

Posted on | Community Science

On April 25th, Wild Ones Wayne County members and friends met at the EIC to learn about iNaturalist and participate in the City Nature Challenge. Collaboratively we logged 88 observations and contributed 49 species to the Detroit Tri-County area project! It was a fun day of sharing and discovery! Thanks to everyone who joined us, and who participated in the challenge. Your photos also contributed to the CNC global effort, which racked up over 3 million observations for science in just 4 days!

The top three species observed in the Detroit Tri-County area project were Red-winged Blackbirds, American Robins and Mayapples. Over 1,000 Research Grade observations were made in total and 846 species identified! A special shout out to members Jordan Fisher, Mark Bourn and Matthew Helms who were among the top 10 observers for our project! Check out more of the stats for the Detroit Tri-County area project here.
